Now for the first time, I’ll be talking about a pair of Sovereign Soul villains with a set of familiar names!
The involvement of Norse mythology in Sovereign Soul is more intricate than any other mythology. Ryoku‘s family itself seems to be related to Odin, chief of the gods, and Loki has sworn his Guardianship to Ryoku. But things take a possible turn when Geri & Freki, Odin’s companion wolves, become involved.
The bounty Loki and the others pick up in Lysvid is supposed to be an easy one, meant to test Ryoku in the field and give Guildford a chance to train him (and earn a bit of their fast-dwindling money). What they aren’t expecting is to come face-to-face with a Norse god, Geri.
We aren’t given much background info right away except that Loki is apprehensive of the large black wolf. By the look of things, Geri is hunting for his sister, Freki, somewhere in the spirit realm as they’ve gotten separated. At first he questions Loki, but something different steals his interest. In these new realms, weaker than once before, Geri’s been thirsting for a real fight. His focus sharpens onto Ryoku.
The energy Geri smells on him is no other than Advocatos, Prince of Demons, taking shelter in Ryoku’s body. When the god throttles the young Defender, the demon prince fully stirs for the first time to fend off the arrogant wolf god, giving Geri the first good fight he’s had ‘in ages.’
And as for Freki? The pair to Geri and white in color, Freki hasn’t been seen by our company of heroes… yet. Could she be connected to Ryoku’s struggle to grow stronger in Serpentine Empire?
