Jesanht Olace – Blog #45, February 2nd, 2022

Hey all! Today I’m going to talk about one of my other villains, one a little more present than my recent post – Jesanht Olace!

Jesanht first appears in Lysvid in Act Three. He’s an intimidating guy – six foot something, well-built, dark skin, white hair & eyes… So when he appears quite suddenly in front of our group, you can understand their apprehension. And they’re right.

It takes a long time to learn any real facts about Jesanht, so I’ll start with the basics. Jesanht is a beast of a man who moves with the careful fluidity of a panther. Sira’s first impression is that this man can fight well, and he lacks a weapon at his belt for a reason – he doesn’t need one. The closest thing to a weapon he bears is armor, just two thick white bracers on his wrists. He hails from the world of Id, a hot, desert-like world year-round.

Jesanht somehow tracked Ryoku’s departure from Harohto. Theory is, he must have been waiting for him to cross the worlds for the first time. That kind of ability takes a serious spellcaster, and Jesanht doesn’t appear unmagical by any means. When he shows up, he confronts Ryoku and attempts to kill him, but he’s saved by Loki on his first appearance. Jesanht appears flustered for the first time, and departs, not to be seen for quite some time. He leaves the characters to wonder after him, why he wanted to kill Ryoku before he’d even done anything.

Jesanht appears again later in Syaoto, seeking a certain item’s usage, and makes a deal with Will to secure it. It becomes apparent that the enigmatic man has an agenda of his own. Killing Ryoku seems only a part of it, one still shrouded by confusion. What are Jesanht’s true motives? Is his hatred for Ryoku some kind of misunderstanding?

This one might be a long-awaited mystery while Jesanht bides his time working in the shadows, but Book Two will surely shed some light on his ulterior motives! Check out Book One to discover Jesanht now, and stay tuned for Book Two: Serpentine Empire, news coming this year!
