Hello all, and welcome back to the Sovereign Soul blog!
Seeing as I haven’t written here yet for 2023, I thought it’d be a great time to share some collective updates on what we can look forward to about the rest of this year.
The biggest announcement is this: Sovereign Soul Book 2: Serpentine Empire is nearing its conclusion! A sprawling 100+ page update has rolled out this year, landing the product very close to its finish. Seeing as Book 2 is a rewrite of an old version, a lot of content from before will still be there. However, the general storyline has undergone some serious changes. If you’re one of those fans who did read the old Book 2: Hierarchy of Lars, you’ll find it’s almost unrecognizable!
My goal is for book 2 to reach completion by the end of this year. Given how little I have left to write in it, it’s a roomy goal that should give me some time to do an edit if I stay focused. Since I’m also a student and working, it’s a little hard to find all the free time I need, but the second book is almost four years after I published Sovereign Soul Book 1: Akin Minds. It’s high time that the second book sees the light of day again.
Once my editing is done, I’ll also be seeking beta readers and anyone who wants to review the book before its release. This sets my overall goal to a very possible, highly doable Spring 2024 release date!
Also, you may have noticed another character in this blog’s banner. This is another piece of Sovereign Soul artwork I’ve commissioned: that’s right, it’s Will Ramun! Done by the same artist who created the art for Ryoku, the same one who created Book 1’s cover and is currently working on Book 2’s – Tyler Girard-Meli! Keen eyes may spot his credit in the introduction of Akin Minds, and you’ll hopefully see his artwork continue through the releasing of Sovereign Soul‘s five book series! After that… who knows?

In the aspect of my game design, not much has changed. I’m still studying, still interning, and still working on some of my own projects. A demo project for Legendlore is looking like it might be presentable soon, in some fashion!
In some other news, I participated in my first ever timed game jam! I decided to use the platform I was most used to, RPG Maker MZ, to create a Redwall fan project. Given the time limit (and how damned busy I am), I wasn’t able to assemble a full demo, but you can see what I did assemble on my itch.io here. As I progress my indie game design, you’ll see more pop up there in time, and hopefully I’ll expand on what I released in the first demo at some point!
Well for now, stay tuned, as some big updates should be coming later this year! As always, please check out my socials and witness my growth as a game designer and author! Goodbye for now!
