Hey all, and welcome to a long-awaited update!
It’s been a rocky road with this publication this time around. The page count of Embers of Orden has given me significant grief and limited the ways I can publish it. However, I had no intention of trimming it down further than I already have. After trimming exactly what I had to, Embers of Orden stands at a staggering 1198 pages! Some might be intimidated by that – Akin Minds was 750 pages, and most new authors stick to a smaller page count.
Why do we stick to the smaller page count? Well, because people don’t want to give large books a chance. In a society where reading is becoming endangered, people are scared to commit to such a big book, sometimes an expensive purchase, and risk not liking it. Mostly because I don’t care about revenue (I’ve minimized my royalties to reduce the price of this book as much as possible) and because I write because I want to. I accepted long ago that writing was not going to bring food to the table, but I can’t not pursue it.
So amid the rocky road with this particular publisher, I’ve finally got something to show for it – the E-book is now available! You can buy it here!
I’m still waiting on some details and plans for the physical publication. If you see online, the American version of the paperback book is available already, and I imagine the Canadian version won’t be far behind. As a Canadian author, that’s the one I really care about.
I do intend to put the first book on sale for a period of 2 weeks. I arranged for it to be the week before and after release, but that seems to be falling on deaf ears at Tellwell right now and the publication is proceeding rapidly. If I can get it up for sale as I was promised, I’ll be sure to update my socials and promote the heck out of it when it’s up for sale, and a follow-up link when the paperback of Embers of Orden is available as well.
It’s been a long and stressful road to get this second book published, but we’re almost there. I hope my few readers will get their hands on the book soon – and that new readers will pick up Akin Minds and encounter the magic of my writing for the first time. Once it releases, that’s only the beginning – I’ll soon start posting about the cut content of Embers of Orden, the progress on Book 3: Remnant Shadows (and it’s coming fast!), and other promotional material for Embers of Orden! Stay tuned, and stay patient – I’m right there with you in the impatient department!
