Sariah Leusasie – Blog #82, November 1st, 2024

A beautiful herbalist with a mischievous streak, Sariah Leusasie is known as the village bully – just eccentric enough to keep everyone guessing. But hidden behind her playful chaos is a far more complicated past, one that ties her fate directly to Ryoku Dragontalen. With the upcoming events of Sovereign Soul: Book Three, Sariah is stepping into the spotlight, bringing plenty of spice, intrigue, and unexpected connections along with her.

Welcome to the first character blog in anticipation of the third installment of the Sovereign Soul series! I’m excited to announce that the first draft of Book Three is complete and currently in the final editing phase. Keep an eye out on November 21st – that’s when I’ll reveal the book’s title and cover!

Returning readers, don’t miss my latest blog posts for an inside look at my creative process and behind-the-scenes insights into this sprawling fantasy world. Now, let’s dive into the wild and wonderful Sariah!

So, what’s special about Sariah Leusasie?

“You’re in luck, hot springs boy. Healing is my number one specialty. You planning to stick around?” – Sariah Leusasie, Act 2, Scene 1

Sariah makes her grand entrance early in Book Three, emerging from the lush forests of Norok with charm – and a little bit of trouble. With wild, curly red hair that spills halfway down her back and mischievous forest-green eyes, Sariah tends to stand out in a crowd. Though petite in stature, her presence is anything but small. She likes to dress in green and enjoys flaunting her looks, never missing a chance to make an impression.

Living just outside Norok Village, Sariah operates on her own schedule, working for the elders and the medicinal hut whenever it suits her. She’s often spotted lounging in the hot springs or stirring up trouble with her antics. To most of the village, she’s the ‘wild child’ of Norok – known for her manipulative charm, unpredictability, and habit of getting what she wants, one way or another. But beneath the carefree surface, there’s more to Sariah than meets the eye.

Sariah isn’t just a whimsical herbalist – she’s a character with deep roots in my other series, Misjudged. 1000 years ago, Sariah lived a very different life, entangled with two boys who both fought for her heart while she was accused of murder. Since then, she’s found peace of a sort in her afterlife, tucked away in Norok, happy enough to leave her past behind… until an ominous shadow appears at Norok’s sacred site. Soon after, Ryoku Dragontalen arrives in Norok, upending her relatively content afterlife and stirring memories she thought she’d buried for good.

When Sariah learns that Ryoku has crossed paths with these two boys – one of whom is actively searching for her – her calm existence begins to unravel. With her curiosity piqued and adventurous spirit reignited, she throws herself into Ryoku’s orbit, determined to be part of the chaos. Sariah hip-checks her way into the core cast of Book Three, injecting her bold attitude, love of mischief, and thirst for adventure into the unfolding story.

“Sariah Leusasie. I live out in the woods between the Capital and here. The springs are a place where the earth and sky connect, so it’s beneficial for my magic to come and meditate here. The girls in the women’s spring chatter all day and night, so concentration is about as rare as a man’s snake over there. Surprisingly, here is much quieter.” – Sariah Leusasie, Act 2, Scene 1

Sariah Leusasie is just the beginning of what’s shaping up to be an exciting new chapter in the Sovereign Soul series. Mark your calendars for November 21st – that’s when the title drop and cover reveal will go live. And if you haven’t already, check out Book One here, and Book Two here to catch up before the third book arrives!
