Embers of Orden Reforged – Blog #96, May 30th, 2025

The release of Embers of Orden in August 2024 was a huge milestone for me. It meant the end of a 5-year writer’s block and the beginning of an uphill battle. Author autonomy and story-shaping decisions all began here.

And while Embers of Orden was once an enormous book – 1,198 pages – it became apparent that I needed to make it more accessible to readers. That’s why Embers of Orden was split into two books – the first half retaining Embers of Orden, and the last half now named Stormwrought.

And now, after a long, drawn-out process, here it is: the new Embers of Orden.

“Even if it hurts, I have to be the one who carries it.” – Ryoku Dragontalen, EMBERS OF ORDEN

With a new release, Embers of Orden needed a makeover. Over on VGen, the wonderful artist Amaimanis produced this lovely new rendition of Embers. The story picks up immediately after Akin Minds and cuts off at a perfect ending point, building into the new Stormwrought.

Features:

  • 532 newly formatted pages, sleek and clean
  • Previously deleted scenes restored
  • That sleek new cover!
  • Updated Dramatis Personae and Pronunciation Guide
  • A short preview of Stormwrought!
  • Much more affordable!

The benefits of this change are endless, and I hope my readers can dive into this newly edited book with a ton of love and appreciation.

Right now, the best place to grab Embers of Orden is Indigo. We’re still untangling a few metadata issues on their end, but the price and core listing info are accurate.

(And yes, we’re still wrestling with KDP. More on that can be seen on my Twitter)

Stay tuned over the next week, as some big, big news is coming ahead of Ruinbound’s June 21st release. Love to hear what you think of the new cover – does it feel like the Embers of Orden you imagined?
