Lysvid, the Vampiric World

  • Size: Small to medium
  • Population: Large
  • Era: Victorian/ Steam age
  • Seasons: Wintry
  • Familiarity: Earth-like
  • Language: Any
  • Monikers: World of dark elves, the world of eternal night.
  • Races: vampires, werewolves, Wargs, humans.

Lysvid is the main world of vampires in the spirit realm. It is always dark here. Unlike many, it is aware of its placement in the spirit realm and of the physical realm. Werewolves also exist here and are unable to revert to human form. Most will not harm humans voluntarily, but a cult called the Ritual believes humans exist only as a snack.

Much of Lysvid remains unmapped. New arrivals are directed primarily to the Capital, and few stay long enough to explore much of what Lysvid offers. Somewhere beyond the mountains is rumored to be a human domain, but vampires in the Central District seldom allow travelers to get there.

Prominent Locations:

Lysvid Capital: the central home of Lysvid. The city is shaped like a web and considered almost impenetrable. Cults like the Ritual and the Night’s Watch patrol the city. It is also the head of the Werewolf Hunting Corps and of the royal Nightfang family.

Gaevrel: a werewolf settlement near the Capital embedded in swampy terrain. Considered the most well manned.

The Black Woods: Lysvid’s only forest which takes up much of the area near the Capital. Known as werewolf stomping grounds.

Xactyr: a city frequented by the Ritual. Rich and flourishes in trades. The Timeless Castle is near here. Across the Black Woods from the Capital.

The Timeless Castle: home to a batty old vampire who takes on apprentices. A powerful healer and sympathetic to travelers.

Leudis: seen as a secondary war capital to Lysvid. Known well as the Black City. Trouble is rife in the streets and highly unwelcoming to travelers. Hunters are rewarded well here.

Peul: a distant city to the north best reached by train from Leudis. Little more than a small farming town.

The Blood Mountains: The collective name of the mountains surrounding the Capital. They are extremely treacherous and hard to cross, save for a few paths and caves forged through them and heavily guarded. Human and werewolf territories are supposed to be abound beyond them.

Prominent Characters:

  • Cleria Nightfang: of noble blood, but acts like a honeyed prostitute. One of the Timeless One’s assistants.
  • Rex Dougo: a hybrid spirit with a mysterious past, likens himself to Ryoku. Bisexual. One of the Timeless One’s assistants.
  • Relus Ashbane: a polite vampire with a penchant for correcting his master. Of all, he is the most devoted to the Timeless One.
  • The Timeless One: a batty but friendly old vampire who lives in a castle, taking on damaged assistants and helping travelers. Sympathetic and oddly knowledgeable of Ryoku’s plight.
  • Mr. Guildford: known only by his last name. Used to teach Ryoku’s classes before his untimely death. One of the Timeless One’s assistants.

Terms

  • The Ritual: sect who believe humans are meant to feed them. Openly practice dark magic. Supposed to be the mercenaries and guards of Lysvid. They claim blood, practice dark magic, and convert new vampires from elves. Corrupting elves earns one a priestly status.
    • The Indulgent: Ritual influencers test magic on them to turn them into crazed beasts. Extremely strong, but completely insane.
  • The Night’s Watch: group who look after the people. Kinder to travelers.
  • Hybrid: hated by all races, the mix of werewolf and vampire. Werewolves are kinder to them. Less blood lust. Able to change freely, but mandatorily on some full moons. They keep less vampiric defense and gain a lot of werewolf strength.
  • Warg: monsters created by the werewolves. Wolves with lycanthrope gene. Beyond reason and very strong.Â
